What happened to GADDAFI – as a human – is a barbaric murder, never mind that he was unarmed, and in captivity under control, despite this he was shot in point blank range in hatred, that’s in anyone’s book, is a war crime.
Not only Gaddafi was treated inhumanly like this, but as well as him there was thousands of arabs pro and anti regimes were treated the same shameful treatment not only shameful for muslims, but for every human.
This made some of the groups known with their anti-Islam ideologies, to take what had happened to Gaddafi the muslim leader, by his own people supposed to be muslims as well, and the scenes of violence between muslims and each other, to market to their ideology about Islam, that it’s violent religion, preaches hatred, and the truth couldn’t be further than what they think and market for.
It is in our views that every reasonable, wise muslim wherever he/she might be, should feel ashamed from what had happened and still, as it’s against and defy the true instruction and guidance of true Islam.
You would think if you want to get the most clear idea about a subject, you better come as near as possible from the source, in this case, the subject is Islam and the holy Quran, and if we want to get best possible understanding of it, for sure we better search in the true biography and sayings of the Messenger, who got the message, understood and delivered it, as well as explained it as he was ordered by God.
In our next part, we will try to give examples from both the holly Quran, and the prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) biography, in some situations, and to show how Islam dealt both fairly and humanly in these critical and difficult situations.
In the battle of Uhod, one of the unbelievers killed prophet Muhammad’s uncle, his name was Hamza Ibn Abdul Moteleb, a lady that her name was Hind Bent Otba – she entered Islam after – cut open his belly took his liver out and tried to chew some of it, then through it up from her mouth, in a symbolic way of the ultimate hatred to the prophet and his companions, when prophet Muhammad (PBUH) saw his uncle body’s, it touched him and his feelings and he cried over the dead body, till prophet Mohammad swore in God’s name, to kill 70 warriors from the unbelievers side for this in retaliation, at this time the Arch Angel Gabriel descended to give him a clear message from God, that to refrain from savaging the dead bodies, then to add to this to be patient, and the source of his patient is from ALLAH only.
Despite the unbelievers according to the Muslims regarded as enemy of ALLAH, still ALLAH giving to his prophet in a very difficult situation the true guidance, first to respect the dead body regardless of his believes, and to give an example for his companions in such situation if repeated, and tells them how to get over themselves and to ask ALLAH for patience, not to commit atrocities, even though if the other side didn’t respect that, you shouldn’t follow them, and the example was clear, even if they murdered and savaged the body of the uncle of the prophet, this means to respect the human despite being your enemy, taking in mind this was a time they didn’t had Geneva convention, neither human rights acts.
About killing in the Muslims believes, that the first thing ALLAH will judge in judgment day between his servants, will be the BLOOD, means killing, as it was mentioned in AL- BOKHARY book, as the killed person will come before ALLAH, and ask him to ask his killer saying: O’ ALLAH ask this person why did he kill me?
In the Islamic Holy Book Quran it is said that :
“if anyone slays a human being – unless it be [in punishment] for murder or for spreading corruption on earth – it shall be as though he had slain all mankind; whereas, if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind”.
· Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) throughout his battles with the unbelievers, never killed neither giving orders to kill a peaceful person not fighting in the battle field, so only the muslims army is allowed to fight the worriers in the battle fields, but the peaceful ‘civilians‘ are not subject to fight and kill, in this case if they caught they were treated as pows , and it’s well documented that in muslim battles with the unbelievers, the orders from prophet Muhammad (PBUH), not to kill a child, a woman, an elderly, as he never hit a woman in his entire life.
Part of his treatment to the pows :
The general rule prophet Muhammad (PBUH) laid in his first battle regarding to the pows was “be good to them” , in simple and very clear act, in how the POW should be treated in Islamic way, prophet Muhammad according to Ibn Abbas, ordered his companions after the battle of Badr to be ‘charitable’ towards their pows, so the companions obeyed, to the degree that they was giving the food to the pows even before themselves”.
Another very clear example, for prophet Muhammad and his treatment and consideration, as well as valuing the human feelings even for pows, as he gave instructions to his companions to make sure not to separate a mother from her child in captivity, and the famous story of Abu Osaid Al Ansari, when he came with pows from Bahrain, and forwarded them before prophet Muhammad, who noticed a crying lady from the pows, when he asked the lady about the reason for what upset her, she replied that her child was taken -sold- to a tribe called Bani Abbs, so prophet Muhammad ordered Abu Osaid by saying “ you will ride, and bring him here”, from this little story we could see how was prophet Muhammad merciful, with a heart full of wisdom and kindness.
Prophet Muhammad said: “once two Muslims face each other with their swords, both of them will be in hellfire, someone asked, that’s the killer, what about the murdered person? Prophet Muhammad replied: “he wanted to kill his opponent”.
Vol 2, Book 26. Pilgrimmage (Hajj). Hadith 797:
Narrated By Abu Bakra: The Prophet delivered to us a sermon on the Day of Nahr. He said, "Do you know what is the day today?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give that day another name. He said, "Isn't it the Day of Nahr?" We said, "It is." He further asked, "Which month is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the month of Dhul-Hijja?" We replied: "Yes! It is." He further asked, "What town is this?" We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the forbidden (Sacred) town (of Mecca)?" We said, "Yes. It is." He said, "No doubt, your blood and your properties are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this town of yours, till the day you meet your Lord. No doubt! Haven't I conveyed Allah's message to you? They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah! Be witness. So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it (this information) to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend it (what I have said) better than the present audience, who will convey it to him. Beware! Do not renegade (as) disbelievers after me by STRIKING THE NECKS (cutting the throats) of one another."
it is not permissible in Islamic law to humiliate the dead body regardless of the person's religion and belief, whereas the respectful action would be to bury it.
This is the Islam as the messenger delivered and a small part of the prophet manners and acts & this was an introduction to how Muslims should respond in such similar events.
But the thugs doing these awful killings and shameful actions with the name of Islam in our world, actually every true Muslim should be ashamed from them.
